Devine Group Embracing Opportunities and Overcoming Challenges in 2025

23/01/2025

The UK construction industry has navigated a fluctuating year marked by ambitious government targets, labour shortages, and rising costs. Despite these challenges, the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) recently conveyed a message of cautious optimism for 2025, a sentiment echoed by leading construction company Devine Group.

One of the key drivers of this optimism is the recent amendments to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). These changes have empowered local authorities to release previously developed land and low-quality greenbelt areas, enhancing land availability for new home developments. This shift is particularly encouraging for volume housebuilders, as it opens new opportunities to boost output and meet government housing targets.

A recent development by Devine Group in Alton, Hampshire.

Despite these positive developments, the industry faces many ongoing challenges: a slowing economy, supplier price increases and labour shortages. The CLC has underscored the importance of close collaboration within the supply chain to mitigate these issues. Devine Group is confident that its emphasis on open communication and cooperative practices will sustain its growth and success in the coming year.

Towards the end of 2024, product availability has shown signs of improvement, and any potential economic relief will offer a glimmer of hope. Nigel Jordan, Managing Director of Devine Group, shared his optimism: ‘At Devine Group, we are optimistic about what the next year holds for the construction industry. Changes in land availability present significant opportunities for volume housebuilders, and we are poised to capitalise on these developments with new projects that promise continued success. The year will remain challenging for the smaller housebuilder.’

As the construction industry prepares for a more stable and sustained recovery in 2025, Devine Group’s dedication to innovation, sustainability, and resilience positively positions them to tackle future challenges. With a robust pipeline of projects, Devine Group is confident in not only replicating last year’s impressive growth but also driving further success in the year ahead.
