A recent report from The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) has stated that new regulations, including mandatory housing targets for councils and green belt reforms, could result in 1.3 million new homes across the UK by the end of the decade. The watchdog estimated that this boost to housebuilding would increase the UK economy by 0.2% by 2029/2030, totalling £6.9 billion.
The government’s target of 1.5 million new homes over the next five years seemed overambitious to many, but housebuilders like Devine Group are making a positive contribution to this number.

With further reforms and investments into affordable housing, the government will be closer to meeting its target. The OBR stated that certain reforms could create 170,000 new homes over the next five years. Additionally, the number of new homes in 2025 is projected to reach a 40-year high of 305,000, demonstrating the confidence within the construction industry.
Housebuilder Devine Group is confident that the government will continue to take significant steps towards its goal in the coming years. The construction company has been working on many sites, including Forest Walk in NW, where the company has worked alongside Barratt Redrow to deliver an exceptional, high-quality service.
Through working on projects like these, Devine Group is not only contributing to government targets but continuing to help set the standard in the construction industry.
